"Remember the instructive, sober words of communication luminary, Karine Jean-Pierre: you’re considered an extremist if you disagree with the progressive political consensus. Opposition to the ruling party is an act of insurrection."
I am old enough to remember when Dissent was Patriotic." Yeah, I know, "No one could be THAT old"! from the Less-Experienced. Behave, or I shall smite thee with my cane.

There's a cult-like inability to process sanity and reason, even to acknowledge information that might disturb a core belief that those who fail to Signal Virtue Correctly (and exuberantly, across an ever-expanding universe of topics) are Inyenzi - cockroaches only worth exterminating. Acquiescence no longer gives them a thrill; it must be full-throated hysteria regurgitating their own incoherent dogma, and even then it is too little, too late.
I am truly torn, three ways: 1. rationally unable to believe fully that civilization is going to commit suicide by stupidity even as I see probabilities mount; 2. prudence dictating we stay under the radar as long as possible to be as prepared as possible for a cataclysmic blunder by the idiots ratcheting things consistently in the worst directions; and 3. stubborn persistence in thinking, acting, and treating other people rationally in the face of their unreason.
We are threading a needle, me and mine, paying attention, and building our near and extended networks and communities. We are investing in durable goods and practical skills for a wide variety of potentially predictable circumstances over the next few years and beyond.
