I have never before heard of this person you speak of. And now that I have, I despair that the world has such ones in it. MSNBC is the land of the lowly worm.

The idea that Mehdi would attack Loury on the subject of Black homicide rates is just a reminder of how shitty a journalist he is. That's like him attacking Jacques Cousteau on tuna migration patterns. Hey! Maybe before you run your mouth Mehdi you might want to DO SOME FARKING JOURNALISM first.

Well okay I guess things are starting to come together for me on this. My question is why is post modern thought so palatable to modern audiences. I'd long attributed its popularity to its simply having being the first ideology installed at the Academy. But I see that's selling it way short. It is seductive.

I am an orthodox Jew and per Torah see the world as grand 'text' authored by G-d: "And G-d said let there be light and there was light".

Accordingly, we can point to an authorial intent that creates the meaning of what we are seeing.

But if you posit, as modern people frequently do, that the world is an accidental happenstance of physical phenomena, then it follows that there is NO authorial intent to favor. And any meaning to anything is perforce created by a consensus of Agents, and so it follows, I think, that you can choose to see the prevailing consensus as a favored but not dispositive discourse (I hope I'm using "discourse" correctly).

How seductive. You get to create your own world. That it's a worldview optimized for hanging around all day with a bong contemplating your navel is gravy.

(The Divine speech in this case is a first order linguistic system:https://www.chabad.org/library/tanya/tanya_cdo/aid/7987/jewish/Chapter-1.htm) [I really wanted to use that phrase]
