This morning, Candace Owens — the erstwhile conservative firebrand who, after a high-profile dispute with Ben Shapiro, and after consulting with Tucker Carlson in the aftermath of that public dust up, has re-invented herself as a Christian identitarian and a Christian Nationalist — announced she’ll be hosting a discussion this afternoon fleshing out her rejection of “Zionism,” as she understands it. To add additional and unmistakable intellectual heft to this fresh and vital exploration of why the world needs reject Jewish demons, their Satanic earthly structures, and maybe even cast them out into the nether reaches of God’s glorious Creation, Owens is hosting along with her the Tate brothers and Dan Bilzerian, world-renowned experts on both the Jewish Question and on how to secure the bag and get all the fine bitches.*
As US conservatives have long supported the Jewish State, if not in practice, at least in theory, this dramatic movement away from such ready comity by “conservative Christians” — at least, of the kinds Owens presumes to give voice to — may seem both sudden and jolting to some, even to some who agree with Owens. But in truth, dramatic shifts in intellectual anchor point are nothing new to Candace, who catapulted to notoriety in conservative circles for her high-profile critique of black political leadership and her rejection of the plantation mentality she found endemic to black Americans, particularly those blacks who clung to black identity narratives and Democratic Party protectionism. Candace Owens, you see, “saw through the lies!” — a mere five decades after, say, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Clarence Thomas, Ben Carson, Larry Elder, Herman Cain, and Alan Keyes had; and having done so, she was of course uniquely qualified to become the “right’s” go-to voice on a black exit — let’s call it “Blexit” — from a client-State arrangement between voters of color and a Great Society-style government. A one-time leftwing black activist, Owens had now ensconced herself in the much sparer space of black, right wing influencers.
She’d been set free for the first time. And it was there that she thrived.
Until. The fucking Jews.
Which brings us back to this afternoon’s happening, in which Owens and crew will discuss “why we reject Zionism”.
But the truth is, we already know why. In the case of Owens, it’s because Ben Shapiro embarrassed her publicly. In the case of the Tates and Bilzerian, it’s because they’re unreconstructed antisemites looking for ways to re-legitimate Jew hatred in the aftermath of the Klan’s fall from leftwing grace, and likely to create a boogeyman to point to when they are inevitably arrested for their myriad sex offenses, fraudulent financing schemes, and trafficking allegations.
And that — being schooled on the history of Israel by someone who’s spent his life personally invested in it — is really all that proved necessary to turn Owens into a de facto terror supporter, a Hamas apologist, an Iranian proxy, a supporter of socialist dictatorship, and a Jewish eliminationist, which is what you necessarily agitate for, despite semantic denials, when you hope to outline the illegitimacy of the Jewish state and its supporters, not just through the lens of US foreign policy, but as a matter of Biblical order.
Ben Shapiro embarrassed Candace Owens publicly, making the (now demonstrably correct, in my opinion) claim that Owens often tries to appear far more learned and considered than she actually is — and that this unfortunate tendency had been especially evident in her fraught, obliquely conspiratorial declarations on Israel and Jews in the aftermath of the October 7 terror attacks on Israeli civilians by an acknowledged terror state.
And Candace, being above all else a narcissistic, vindictive grifter, determined that — in the wake of that confrontation with Shapiro, and with the status of having Kanye’s ear and Tucker’s blessings — an entire religion, whose practitioners, like in most “identity groups,” run the gamut politically from hard-core conservative to far left Marxist (and so not at all religious); and who religiously run the gamut from nonbelievers to Orthodox sects which themselves often differ in their interpretations of the faith, was to be the object of her outsized vengeance going forward.
It also doesn’t hurt that her husband, George Farmer — son of a British Lord — may be tied up with the Tates in ways that have not yet come fully to light.
As a result, her “research” has her making claims to Stalin’s Jewishness, or Mossad’s control of war in the Congo — along with myriad other bits and bobs familiar to anyone who’s ever witnessed someone’s descent into virulent antisemitism.
Owens decided that to punish Shapiro and all those like him who rejected her previous midwit, predictable, Kanye-esque forays into blood libel conspiracy tales, she’d double down and turn her rapt audience into “Christ-conscious” Christian warriors engaged in a Biblical / grand historical battle against “dark Satanic forces.” That is, rather than battle American Jews in the conservative movement on questions of foreign policy, she decided the more sane way forward was to suggest that pro-Israel Jews exist as beards for a more pronounced, existential evil — and that it is up to Owens and, now, her cadre of sex traffickers, to do battle with this much greater existential threat, which she hadn’t noticed until the Daily Wire parted ways with her, that she finds embodied in those adepts of Baphomet: the real Jew, the Biblical Jew, the Christ killers who, behind the closed doors of their unremarkable suburban homes, aren’t watching the NFL or binging Netfix series like, say, as yet unawakened Christians might be; but are rather setting up global pedophilia rings on their Satanic Apple products and plotting ways to nab young Islamic children whom they can ritually rape, and whose blood they can then use to leaven their Satanic Jew holiday pastries.
Like many before her, Owens chose for her latest grift a ready scapegoat to map her grievances to, precipitated by a desire to save face as a “conservative” pundit exposed ingloriously first by a pro-Israel Jew, and then by his attendant cabal of infiltrators who are forestalling the one real conservative — and America First! — stance: Christian Nationalism.
The thing is, the “Christ consciousness” Owens has embraced on her way to becoming the self-satisfied, ridiculously uninformed Joan of Bark, is a brand of Marxist-tinged standpoint theory / subjectivist epistemology — symptoms of the woke virus — that tracks far more easily with the leftism she’d previously “rejected” as a black activist when she was sliding away from Democrats and later presenting herself as a brave escapee who’d found a home on the Constitutional “right.” And it was among conservatives that she gained fame, fortune, and enormous influence via that “conversion,” because the right tends to over-embrace apostates of leftism, much to my eternal cringe.
In other words, Owens cast off “black identity” as the left defined it for her, only to usurp “Christian” identity and turn it into yet another leftist campaign of vying for group victimhood, though this time disguised in tropes — faith, religious belief, a Christian worldview — the left likes to relegate to the right wing.
Owens, like the yappy dog she is, has merely returned to her vomit. She traded her black identity for a Christian one, and has begun laying out the victim narrative of Christians who, in the US, make up most of the population.
Now, as I’ve noted and decried many times, Christians — and “whites” — are subject to normalized abuse in our current culture, which has been overtaken and queered by Marxist thought. And yet, this fact does not — or rather should not — precipitate entry into the intersectional Olympics, where groups vie for prominence in the identity hierarchy.
Owens and her most vocal supporters have simply used Jews as a way to climb up that hierarchy, using all the tools and all the propaganda others have used to scapegoat Jews when they feel themselves losing their hold on majority power.
Still, the most revolting part of her “journey” to save face is not that she’s talked her way into personal antisemitism. Rather, its that her willingness to defame conservatives who happen to be Jewish, and who believe in Israel’s right to exist and defend itself in precisely the same way they do US sovereignty and the right to self defense as a nation, has brought so many American conservatives with her.
Yesterday, I wrote this on X:
I don’t think non Jews know just how much open anti-Semitism from fellow Americans hurts people like me. And I’m saddened beyond words how so few people care — or who in fact kind of enjoy having a scapegoat around as they claim their own persecution as Christians and Catholics.
I followed the post up with screenshots of unrelenting Jew hatred from a variety of communities on the X app — taunts, desires to see my kid’s brain cancer return, suggestions that I’m a demon, a pedophile, a controller of banks and media and weather, etc. Typical Jewbaiting that, after a lifetime of hearing it, you get used to.
But when you see it coming from people who once believed in what you believed in, but who are now working tirelessly to convert conservatism into “Christian,” and then that into just another competing identity group in the victim Olympics, you begin to despair.
It’s easy enough to point out how surreal and absurd is this re-configuring of “conservatism” into a leftwing identity cult protected from criticism by an appropriation of Jesus; it is far more difficult to withstand the rising tide of hatreds that come with the promotion of such a project by people who hold such prominent platforms within your political tent.
To think that my family — and perhaps even US conservatism itself — is in danger because Candace Owens doesn’t know much about much, and yet considers herself a far more transcendent intellectual figure than history will ever judge her to be, has me so angry and so sad, simultaneously, that it’s hard to put things into words.
I have not been publishing here much of late. And for that I apologize. This is partly because both my wife and I have had some medical issues, including in my case one that makes typing at any length extremely painful.
But the other reason for my absence has been this wave of overt antisemitism — not from the left, or from Islamists, where I expect it will always ooze, but rather from the people I’ve spent decades among politically and culturally as an outspoken voice against the poison of identity politics and the dangers inherent in the way we (incorrectly) accept how language functions. This rather sudden confrontation with one time peers and online friends has left me feeling abandoned, rejected, and — in thinking back — something of a silly mascot to an ideology that, once it sees itself in an existential battle, can reframe me as it most dangerous and diabolical enemy: I control the vast undulations of world history; I am an objective correlative for evil in a great grand battle for salvation, and it isn’t just me, but anyone who shares the most tenuous connection to “Zionism”.
It’s hard mustering the will to write into the teeth of such disdain. Seems more prudent to sit back and hope the ill wind passes.
And yet every so often, I tape up my wrist, pull out the big keyboard, and launch yet another small cry into the abyss.
This is that small cry. For what it’s worth. Which I know isn’t much.
[Update: Since this piece dropped early Sunday, Candace Owens has come out in support of Venezuela’s socialist dictator, Nicolas Maduro, over Javier Milei, whom she rejects because she thinks his blue eyes are of post-WWII lineage. She’s trotting out The Boys From Brazil-defense of socialist dictators. Because of course she is.]
*******
Buy me a cup of coffee? Lunch? A sports car?
I gave you the thumbs up for the subtitle alone, but this entire piece deserves it as well. Prayed for the healing of you and the Mrs.
Didn’t the Tate brothers embrace Islam? Prediction: Candace and her husband will, too, at some point. They will deem Christianity (Catholicism) as “too weak.”
(BTW, I served with the Tate brothers’ father in the USAF. He was good at his job - Russian linguist - but I avoided him unless it was business. Let’s just say that I’m far from surprised at how his sons have turned out.)
One more thing: many black conservatives who are online sniffed out Candace’s fraudulent nature early on and were told that they (we) were just jealous of her popularity. I mostly stayed out of it and watched it play out.
I am on your side and Israel’s and always shall be. It is not because my ancestry is about 8% Jewish – it would be the same if it were 0%. It is the only morally possible position. CO had a chance to learn and grow, but didn’t. She wasn’t an intellectual but an ideologue, and a weathervane at that. She did not choose wisely. Best wishes and prayers to you and your wife on your journeys.
