A lot of the online “right” today is advocating for ideas they’ve pulled directly from early progressives. That is, from the left. Margaret Sanger, Woodrow Wilson, Madison Grant, George Creel, Richard T Ely, and Kenneth L Roberts, to name a handful, were proponents of what, in the early 20th century, was mainstream progressive doctrine stemming from genetic determinism or scientific racism. This included eugenics. And it gave rise to a Klan resurgence, particularly in the Midwest. Grant’s work — which concluded with the idea that race is everything — was picked up by Adolf Hitler, who called Grant’s The Passing of the Great Race “his Bible.”
